While the structure of the para-transit provides excellent protection in the event of a crash, it is the skill and performance of the highly trained professional para-transit driver that often prevents crashes.

There is a substantial amount of consideration given to the selection of any of our employees. Camp Venture, NY State, and Brega Transport’s prerequisite for becoming a driver consists of:

Physical examination (see article 19A for more information)
Drug screening
Presentation of driving and criminal records
Evaluation of driving skills

All company drivers must be 21 years of age or older. Upon completion of the initial screening, they are then selected on the basis of previous experience in the areas of customer service, care giving, problem solving, driver ability. References are then thoroughly checked, along with driving and criminal records.

Para Transits are always operated by drivers with a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). The CDL is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation and New York State.

In order for you to aquire a CDL, you will need to take a written test at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Uppon compleation of the written test, there will be behind the wheel training of at least 25 hours..

In addition, no one can drive a para-transit without first passing a drug and alcohol screening; and law enforcement background checks.
